Event Overview
The Etna region of Sicily, with its volcanic landscapes, fertile wine country and picture- perfect hilltop town of Taormina, was our chosen destination.
Our guests were booked into the five star La Plage Resort, located on the charming pebble beach of Taormina. From here, we hired jeeps for an adventurous drive up to the smoking craters of Mount Etna, partially off-road, crossing old lava fields and ancient forests, with walks across extinct craters and new lava flows. In the afternoon, we tasted the volcano in a local winery – the uniqueness of the wines produced in the Catania hills has always been attributed to the ashes of Etna.
To discover the charm of the Sicilian coastline we sailed a catamaran along the enchanting bays of Giardini Naxos, Capo Taormina, mermaid, Mazzaro and Isola Bella, where our guests swam, snorkelled and paddle-boarded.
Exploring the archaeological wonder of Taormina’s ancient Teatro Greco 10,000-seat amphitheatre gave breath-taking views of Mount Etna and Ionian Sea and guests were in awe of its historical influence on the island.
Sicilian cuisine represents Italian gastronomy at its best. We booked our guests into wonderful restaurants serving mouth-watering cuisine, including the Michelin-starred Vicolo Stretto.
